Teddy Jackson - Biography

Teddy's says, "Each day brings new insight into the world of color, values, and composition.  Feeling the mood of the moment and translating it into a piece of art is an adventure.  Learning to see is a life long process."

Art has been an important part of Teddy's life since the age of 10.  Her dear Aunt Norma gave her a set of oil paints and she began to create her visions on canvas.  During her years as a Human Resources Professional, she dabbled in painting to relieve stress.  She describes standing in front of the easel as her very own personal vacation.

Teddy won 3rd place at the Dockside Quick Paint Competition at the Door County Plein Air Festival 2011.  Three of her students joined her for the Door County, Wisconsin Plein Air Event last summer.  She, also, won second place at both the 9th Annual Augusta Plein Air Art Event and the Stems Plein Air Paint Out last year.  Her painting "Nature Path" won Best of Show at the first annual George Owens Nature Park Plein Air Paint.

She works primarily in Acrylic and Oil.  Her favorite subjects are landscape and equine art, although she has painted a wide variety of subjects.  Teddy began plein air painting in 2006, attending the yearly Augusta, MO Plein Air Events and Stems Plein Air Paint, Overland Park, KS.   She attended the second annual Plein Paint Out at Big Cedar Lodge near Branson, MO, where she participated in a workshop  taught by nationally known artist, Matt Smith.  She has attended workshops by other national artists, including:  Johannes Vloothuis, Phil Starke, Michael Albrechtsen, Joshua Been,  Billyo O'Donnell, Joan Parker, and Donna Aldridge.

When she is not painting, she is volunteering her time to art organizations, teaching classes and workshops, and encouraging others to get involved in the art community.

Director of Friends of Summit Art, Past President and member of the Board of Directors of Summit Art,  Co-Chair of the Blue Springs Art League Annual Fine Art Show, and Member of Missouri Valley Impressionist Society, & Missouri Watercolor Society.
