Hi Everyone:
It has been a busy January. I hope you have missed viewing my "Painting a Week". As I mentioned in my E-Newsletter, I will be doing different types of things this year. Although, I really enjoyed doing a painting for each week of the year, it is time to apply what I learned to my larger paintings. I may even take you through some of the steps in building some of these new paintings. My next E-Newsletter will be on the way to you in the next few weeks.
Speaking of new types of things, the Greater Kansas City Art Association catergory for the month of January was "fantasy". If you are familiar with my painting, you know that my work is representational, meaning most everything is recognizable. Our Blue Ribbon committee chair, Connie Mowe, encourages the members to try something new. Well, I put on my classical music in the studio and quickly created "just something". Something that didn't particularly look like anything at all. Just a lot of pretty colors placed here and there on the canvas. I actually won a Blue Ribbon Award for "Fantasy". I will get it photographed and post it on my next blog. You may say "What was she thinking?"
I will be back soon with the some photos.

I was honored to donate my painting "Mountain Air"
for the benefit Auction, which was held at the
Buttonwood Art Space on January 14th. All the proceeds from the sale of this painting went to New House. Thank you to all the people who came out to support this wonderful cause.
