I enjoyed painting this piece from the window of my studio.  It was the first snow of the season.  The light snow blanketed the field.  The shadows reached across the snow.

I have three more paintings to finish for my 2009 Painting a Week.  It was been a busy fall, so I have fallen behind; but, I will post them even if I don't complete them until January.

I hope you have enjoyed my painting a week project for 2009.
Happy New Year!!!

I am still remembering and enjoying the photos from my trip to France.  In Brittany, the beautiful Chateau Josselin, owned by the aristocratic Rohan family, stands high a top a hill.  After touring the chateau, we walked across this bridge, once a draw bridge over the moat protecting the castle.  This Red Door opens to the small medieval town of Josselin.

This was a fun painting.  I began setting all the darks with blue and red violets, then added the lights to the wall.  The finishing touch is the Red Door.

I hope you enjoy this painting.

It was a gloomy fall morning as I looked out the window of my studio.  I painted as the horses were searching for the last few blades of green grass.  Although, the bales of hay had already been put out for them, they were persistent.

I am sharing 2 versions of this painting.  I didn't think the first one gave the feeling of the gloomy day that I was seeing, so on the "to do" stack it went for another day.  That day arrived today, Dec. 27th, 2009.  I am much more pleased with my revised version.  I hope you will agree.

Sometimes it is difficult for an acrylic artist to get that gloomy, hazy look.  Let me know what you think about the comparison of these two paintings.

               Version I                                                   Version II

Well, version 2 gives the feeling of the day that I remember.  I think I used too much white in the first painting.  The more muted colors of the second piece are more pleasing to me and I hope to you.

Thanks for following my blog.
Wishing you a Happy New Year,
Teddy
