I told you I was going to look in my
own backyard. So here it is, the first
thing I see each morning.
This was a beautiful morning in May.
The sun was peeking through the tree
lined fence row and painting bright streaks of yellow across the pasture.
If you look closely, you will see our
pasture pets are grazing in the cool
shadows.
Watch for next week's painting.
Thanks for visiting,
Teddy
Another Painting from the "Quick Paint" at Wine Country Gardens
Oh Yes, it was raining heavier. The great instrument music was still playing and the ideas were flowing from my brush. Several viewers really liked these colors blending together so gracefully. This was done with Acrylic paints (no retarder) just quick movement of paint. In the two hours time period, I completed two paintings and had 35 minutes to spare. It was a thrilling afternoon.
You will recognize the tree from the 2009/05/08 Painting of the Week. I am calling this one "Mellow and Moody".
Special thanks to Wine Country Gardens and all the wonderful folks in Augusta for a fantastic Plein Air Event.
They had prepared a wonderful lunch for us in there beautiful pavilion. Rain was predicted so I opted to stay in the pavilion and paint. Looking out over the fields as the rain began to fall, I was glad I had chosen such a great location.
There was beautiful music playing and people were watching all the artist as the "Quick Paint" began. It was a perfect location. Now, narrowing the composition to something I could complete in less than 2 hours was my biggest challenge.
To my surprise, this painting moved along very quickly and I was enjoying the experience.
Please suggest a title for this one. Thanks, Teddy
The east vineyard at the Balducci
Winery in Augusta, MO. A reporter
from the St. Charles Magazine was
visiting with us and taking pictures
for their tourism materials. If you see the pictures, I will be the one with the floppy hat. My new hat was a great addition to my plein air gear for this year. It provided great protection from the sun and wind.
Balducci has hosted the Sunset Paint
for a number of years. The sunset was very late in the evening, so I opted for another view.
The Hoeft Vineyard hosted the estate paint. Their private vineyard features an authentic 1860 Wine Cellar.
Although it rained most of the day, we had a wonderful time. They feed us very well with a gourmet breakfast provided by the Lindenhof Bed and Breakfast, followed by a box lunch from Cafe Bella. And, would you believe ice cream was served as an afternoon snack.
The artwork created that day was gathered in the host's dining room. The purchase award winner and several other ribbons were presented, as we enjoyed more food and wine.
What great hosts they were!!!
And, artists do love to eat.
