This week, I am wishing I had a green thumb. I enjoy the beautiful flowers that others have in their yards and gardens. I can't even keep potted flowers looking nice.
So, this is my style of gardening. I will leave the real gardening to those who have that talent.
Time to move on and plan my next painting of the week.
Don't forget that I like to hear from you and appreciate your suggestions for naming my weekly paintings.
Have a wonderful week,
Teddy
After completing this painting, I learned of the death of one of neighbors from 28 years ago. I now see this as the pathway of life. The colors represent the pleasures and the trials of our journey. The warmth of friendships we have formed along the way. The times that we have fallen yet kept our focus on the light guiding us along life's way.
Join me in taking time to enjoy the journey, reflect upon the people and things around us, and be thankful for our many blessings.
What does this painting say to you?
Pause and evaluate,
Teddy
This painting of the Missouri River was done from a high overlook in Augusta Shores during the Augusta Plein Air in April. I just discovered that I had failed to post this painting along with the others completed at that event.
Look back to my April posting to see other works completed on site in Augusta, MO.
Almost three weeks after taking a workshop with Phil Starke from Tuscon, AZ, I felt compelled to relive the class by painting this scene from my memory. I have been applying many of things that learned and look forward to another workshop when Phil returns to this area.
This was an exercise in simplifying a very busy reference photo with lots of rocks in the foreground.
I hope you had a wonderful and safe 4th of July Holiday.
Thanks for viewing,
Teddy
Can you believe it? We have reached the halfway point in my project titled 2009 Painting a Week. It is fitting that this painting is another waterfall. Remember, my first painting in this series was a waterfall dated 2008/12/26. I have had a great time. Althought some postings have been a bit late. The important thing is I have completed a painting for each week.
I look forward to continuing my commitment throughout the remainder of the year. I hope you will view my website often.
Please remember to help me by suggesting names for these paintings.
Beautiful artwork from the Stems Plein Air Event lined the walls for the Rice Gallery for the Artist Reception. I was so honored to receive a First Place Award in Acrylic for "Seclusion" and an Honorable Mention on "Erickson's Falls".
I certainly want to thank Peggy Rice and all the staff from the Rice Gallery for making this event so special for the artists.
I am already looking forward to the Second Annual Stems Plein Air Event at Arboretum, Overland Park, KS.
Hope to see you there in 2010.
I was excited to have a nice comfortable day to paint, as the rain had cut the day short on my last trip to the Arboretum.
The waterfalls in the Erickson's Water Garden caught me eye. And, as I mentioned before, waterfalls are one of my favorite subjects. The roses were a special treat at this location. They swayed in the morning breeze and brought bright warm color to the scene.
